Our dual MLIS/MSIM program prepares you to review, analyze, manage, organize and implement data and information in a variety of professional settings, from schools and libraries to marketing and beyond.

Requirements

A total of 54 semester hours is required for these two degrees. All requirements in the combined-degree program must be completed within six years.
Of the 54 credit hours, 42 hours will be from the required courses from each degree.
The remaining credit hours will come from 12 hours of electives from either degree, with at least 3 credit hours of electives coming from the MLIS degree.
This program is not open to students who already have earned a Master of Library and Information Science degree or a Master of Science in Information Management degree.

Accreditation

The Master of Library and Information Science program is accredited by the (ALA). On January 20, 2023, ALA's Committee on Accreditation voted to continue the ��ɫTV MLIS's full accreditation status for another seven-year term. The next comprehensive review will take place in 2029.

��ɫTV is also a member of the , dedicated to advancing the information field. As Chicago’s only , ��ɫTV’s School of Information Studies has long been a presence on Chicago’s higher education landscape, first offering library science programs in the 1930s.
